ROOTED IN GULF COAST AGRICULTURAL HERITAGE
Indianola Distilling Company takes its name from a long-abandoned port of entry on the Gulf Coast, through which European immigrants sailed their way to Texas.
These immigrants brought with them their unique agricultural heritages — seeds, grains, and fruits via the major Texas seaports of Indianola and Galveston. These grains became pillars in the canon of Gulf Coast agriculture.
In a world of monoculture crops grown for maximum yield, Indianola Distilling Company’s interest lies in exploring the genetic diversity of these original, heirloom crops of old Texas.
Indianola is committed to seeking and restoring these near-extinct varieties of corn, rye, wheat, and barley, re-introducing the practice of growing them on a commercial scale, and experimenting with them in our spirits to uncover their individually unique and exceptional flavors.
